Cat Portraits

I have never actually owned a Cat, but must say I am always fascinated by them. Their amazing eyes, movement & poise, silky coats & aloof expression all make the cat a perfect subject to draw or paint.

I would recommend watercolours as a choice of medium for your cat. Watercolour is perfect to build up visual layers of soft fur texture and will highlight every detail right down to the last whisker!

Graphite Pencils & Polychromos are another great option, they provide a tonal softness, but equally can provide sharp detailing for eyes, ears and noses.

“Bear’ a Birman cat breed is shown above. He has been painted in watercolours with a solid background to give a contemporary finish to the portrait.
